The National Peanut Festival
Dothan offers plenty of events worth getting excited over, but nothing stirs up the good spirits quite like the National Peanut Festival. The festival – now hosted at its own fairground – spans 10 days and draws hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the country to the Peanut Capital of the World. Throughout its duration, the National Peanut Festival entertains guests of all ages with a variety of family-friendly events that vary from year to year, including concerts, livestock parades and a parade that serves as the festival’s grand finale.
Fireworks at the Fairgrounds
Gear up for Independence Day the American way with a thrilling display of fireworks at this annual event. Every year, Fireworks at the Fairgrounds combines live music, good food, and of course, fireworks that’ll light up the sky over the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds.
Low Country Boil
A great way to end the summer season, the Low Country Boil is held once a year at Landmark Park in Dothan. Enjoy lots of great food and live performances from local musicians. This Southern favorite is cooked up in a huge kettle and then brought to guests’ tables in wheelbarrows.
Fall Farm Day
Also held at Landmark Park, the Fall Farm Day takes place every fall. Take a trip back in time, and enjoy a fun-filled day learning how early farmers ground sugar cane, plowed a field and sewed a quilt. There are plenty of activities for people of all ages.
