Dothan boasts the only urban Forever Wild Land Trust Trail in Alabama. Winding 10 miles on the northwest side of town, Beaver Creek Trail is new and full of challenges for trail biking and hiking. This trail is marked and easy to navigate, with two entrances – one on Flowers Chapel Road and the other on Fortner Street. The trail is open to the public for biking and hiking during daylight hours.

Eastgate Park is 200 acres of green recreation space. It is anchored by a picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court, and playground. Surrounding Eastgate Park is a 2 mile walking trail with a ¼ mile boardwalk, stocked fish ponds, and an archery range. There is a fenced-in dog park, allowing pet owners to take their pets off-leash to enjoy a green space with exercise equipment. Adjoining Eastgate Park is the Lowell Roundtree Baseball Park with 4 fields. Dothan's only disc golf park is located at Eastgate Park, with 18-holes for public play.

James Oates Park is a 87 acre park that features two complexes – a six-field baseball complex and a six-field softball complex. All fields are AstroTurf, installed in 2022. Rip Hewes Athletic Complex is home to Dothan’s largest football stadium, which features 10,000 seats and a recently renovated press box. In 2022 it was renovated with a new AstroTurf playing surface. The stadium is used for Dothan’s high school football games and community events. Also in the complex are two softball fields, one baseball field, six tennis courts, and a concession stand.

Westgate Park is the largest city park in Dothan comprised of a community recreation center, 5-field softball complex, 4-field baseball complex, 3-field soccer complex, football stadium, Miracle League sports fields, tennis complex, BMX track, outdoor fitness court, biking trail and walking trails. Wiregrass Recreation Center is the former home of Dothan’s minor league baseball team. In the community center, it includes a gymnasium, full kitchen, meeting rooms, weight room, an outdoor pool, and a playground. The sports park includes 9 tennis courts, 3 softball fields, and a batting cage.
