Dothan boasts the only urban Forever Wild Land Trust Trail in Alabama. Winding ten miles on the northwest side of town, Beaver Creek Trail is brand new and full of challenges for trail biking and hiking. This trail is marked and easy to navigate, with two entrances – one on Flowers Chapel Road, and the other on Fortner Street. Ten miles of trail are open to the public for biking and hiking during daylight hours.
Dothan National Golf Club and Hotel features a par 72, 18-hole course designed around the natural flowing hills of lower Alabama. Lined with majestic pine trees and wildlife, this course is coupled with a hotel that offers stay and play packages. Dothan National also offers membership options.
Eastgate Park is 197 acres of green recreation space. It is anchored by a large picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court, and playground. Surrounding Eastgate Park is a 2 mile walking trail with a ¼ mile boardwalk, 2 stocked fish ponds, and an archery range. There is also a fenced-in dog park, allowing pet owners to take their pets off-leash to enjoy a green space with exercise equipment. Adjoining Eastgate Park is the Lowell Roundtree Baseball Park with 4 fields. Dothan's only disc golf park is located at Eastgate Park, with 18-holes for public play.
G. Marvin Lewis Baseball Complex is a 4 field complex, anchored by a concession stand and press box, and is home to Dixie Boys and Youth baseball in Dothan.
Headland Country Club is a semi-private golf course located in Headland, Alabama with a challenging and well maintained golf course, pool and club house. The golf course is open to the public but we do offer memberships for occasional players.
James Oates Park is a 87 -acre park that features two complexes – a six-field baseball complex, and a six-field softball complex. This player friendly, fun course is a great alternative to larger courses. This 18-hole, Par 72 course is surrounded by a picturesque setting with five lakes and tree lines. This championship course features tiff eagle greens, and a separate putting green and driving range are also on site.
Rip Hewes Athletic Complex is home to Dothan’s largest football stadium, which features 10,000 seats and a recently renovated press box. The stadium is used for Dothan’s high school football games and community events. Also in the complex are two softball fields, one baseball field, and a concession stand.
Located in the southeast corner of Alabama, Highland Oaks offers 36 holes of championship golf, including a 9-hole Par 3 course. The Highlands/Magnolia combination was named by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" as one of the nation's Great Value courses. Highland Oaks also offers a pro shop, clubhouse, grill, and membership options. Highland Oaks is home to the annual Korn Ferry Tour Q School, a precursor to the PGA Tour.
Silver Wings Golf Club is a 27-Hole Championship facility. The course has outstanding Champion Bermuda Greens and one of the most challenging layouts in the region. The fairways are tree lined with numerous hardwoods and pines that gently roll through different elevation changes.
Located within Westgate Park, Water World is Dothan’s Most Exciting Beach! This 12 acre park features a giant wave pool, Great White water slide, and kiddie pool, with plenty of pool decks for sunning and enjoying the hot summer days. In addition to the water park, you’ll find a fully stocked gift shop, video arcade, and concession stand, as well as a picnic pavilion for you to host a birthday party or cool off with an ice cream. Admission is charged for entry.
Westgate Park is the largest city park in Dothan, comprised of a community recreation center, 5-field softball complex, 4-field baseball complex, 3-field soccer complex, football stadium, special needs sports fields, tennis complex, BMX track, outdoor fitness court, biking trail and walking trails. Also located within Westgate Park is Water World, Dothan’s very own water theme park, and a Houston County Library Extension. Two playgrounds are located at Westgate Park - Kiwanis Park, with playsets for both big and little kids, and Miracle Playground, an inclusive, all-abilities playground.
Wiregrass Recreation Center is the former home of Dothan’s minor league baseball team. In the community center, it includes a gymnasium, full kitchen, meeting rooms, weight room, an outdoor pool, and a playground. The sports park includes 9 tennis courts, 3 softball fields, and a batting cage.
