Dothan is home to many parks and community centers that are available for neighborhood events, recreational games, and sports tournaments. There are parks to accommodate softball, baseball, tennis, soccer, and even BMX events. Many of the community centers also have rooms available for parties or social events.
Westgate Park is the largest city park in Dothan, comprised of a community recreation center, 5-field softball complex, 6-field baseball complex, football stadium, special needs sports fields, tennis complex, BMX track, biking trail and walking trails. Also located within Westgate Park is Water World, Dothan’s very own water theme park, and a Houston County Library Extension.
Eastgate Park is 197 acres of green recreation space. It is anchored by a large rental house with outdoor pool, large picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court, and playground. Surrounding Eastgate Park is a 2 mile walking trail with a ¼ mile boardwalk, 2 stocked fish ponds, and an archery range. There is also a fenced-in dog park, allowing pet owners to take their pets off-leash to enjoy a green space with exercise equipment. Adjoining Eastgate Park is the Lowell Roundtree Baseball Park with 4 fields.
2049 Sanitary Dairy Road
Andrew Belle Community Center provides year-round activities for members of the community in their center, which houses computer rooms, game rooms, a gymnasium, and a playground and splash pad. It also features 2 tennis courts, and two ball fields.
1270 Lake Street
Dothan boasts the only urban Forever Wild Land Trust Trail in Alabama. Winding ten miles on the northwest side of town, Beaver Creek Trail is brand new and full of challenges for trail biking and hiking. This trail is marked and easy to navigate, with two entrances – one on Flowers Chapel Road, and the other on Fortner Street. Three miles of trail are open currently, and all ten miles will be open on October 1, 2016.
Dothan National Golf Club and Hotel features a par 72, 18-hole course designed around the natural flowing hills of lower Alabama. Lined with majestic pine trees and wildlife, this course is coupled with a hotel that offers stay and play packages. Dothan National also offers membership options.
Doug Tew Recreation Center is Dothan’s first recreation center, built to service the surrounding community. It includes an auditorium, gymnasium, full kitchen, and meeting rooms, as well as a playground, outdoor pool, and basketball court. The sports complex features 1 softball field and 4 baseball fields.
300 Garland Street
Located in the southeast corner of Alabama, Highland Oaks offers three nine-hole championship courses a nine-hole Short Course. The Highlands/Magnolia combination was named by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" as one of the nation's Great Value courses. Highland Oaks also offers a pro shop, clubhouse, grill, and membership options.
COMING SOON! This 87-acre park is under construction now with a proposed 2017 opening date. James Oates Park will feature two complexes – a six-field baseball complex, and a six-field softball complex. Each complex will feature ample parking, a concessions building, and a press box. Future plans for James Oates Park include a rental pavilion, walking trails, community playground, and community activity center. 300 Taylor Road
This player friendly, fun course is a great alternative to larger courses. Its 18 holes are surrounded by a picturesque setting with five lakes and tree lines. This championship course features tiff eagle greens, and a separate putting green and driving range are also on site.
321 Roundabout Drive, Cowarts, AL
Rip Hewes Athletic Complex is home to Dothan’s largest football stadium, which features 10,000 seats and a recently renovated press box. The stadium is used for Dothan’s high school football games and community events. Also in the complex are two softball fields, one baseball field, and a concession stand.

Located within Westgate Park, Water World is Dothan’s Most Exciting Beach! This 12 acre park features a giant wave pool, triple flume water slide, Great White water slide, and kiddie pool, with plenty of pool decks for sunning and enjoying the hot summer days. In addition to the water park, you’ll find a fully stocked gift shop, video arcade, and concession stand, as well as a picnic pavilion for you to host a birthday party or cool off with an ice cream. Admission is charged for entry.
401 Recreation Road
Walton Park Recreation Center features a community center with an outdoor pool, picnic pavilion, gymnasium, weight room, full kitchen, meeting rooms, and a 2/3 mile walking trail. The sportsplex features 2 baseball fields with a batting cage and 2 tennis courts.
122 Walton Park Drive
Wiregrass Recreation Center is the former home of Dothan’s minor league baseball team. In the community center, it includes a gymnasium, full kitchen, meeting rooms, weight room, an outdoor pool, and a playground. The sports park includes 9 tennis courts, 3 softball fields, and a batting cage.
